Source of isolates submitted to the Aspergillus fumigatus database

The MLST scheme hosted in this database was developed by Frank Odds and colleagues. It is described in Bain et al. 2007 J Clin Microbiol 45:1469-1477.

MLST has been found to be less discriminatory, more expensive and more labour-intensive than other methods for typing isolates of Aspergillus fumigatus (Vanhee et al. 2009 Clin Microbiol Infect 15:643-650). The method is not recommended as a strain typing tool for this species and this database will no longer be curated or updated.

Typing

The typing database contains nomenclature - allele definitions that provide an identifier for every unique allele sequence, and MLST profiles that index each unique combination of alleles with a sequence type (ST).
