Leptospira spp. MLST Databases

This site uses two linked databases powered by the BIGSdb genomics platform. The sequence definition database contains allele sequence and MLST profile definitions whereas the isolate database contains provenance and epidemiological information. Further details about BIGSdb can be found in Jolley & Maiden 2010, BMC Bioinformatics 11:595.

Please note that we will be upgrading the operating system on the primary database server on Thursday 22 November. Access to the databases will be maintained from a backup server, but offline jobs and access to the automated submission system will be disabled while the work is carried out.

This database hosts three Leptospira MLST schemes.

MLST scheme#1 is described in Boonsilp et al. 2013, PLoS Negl Trop Dis 7:e1954 and is curated by Janjira Thaipadungpanit.

MLST scheme#2 was developed by Paula Ruybal and colleagues at the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina. It is described in Varni et al. 2014, Infect Genet Ecol 22:216-22 and is curated by Paula Ruybal.

MLST scheme#3 was developed by Niyaz Ahmed and colleagues at the Pathogen Evolution Group, Centre for DNA Fingerprinting and Diagnostics, Hyderabad, India. It is described in Ahmed et al. 2006, Ann Clin Microbiol Antimicrob 23:28 and is curated by Kishore Nalam.

Citing the database

The preferred format for citing this website in publications is:

This publication made use of the Leptospira MLST website (https://pubmlst.org/ leptospira/) developed by Keith Jolley and sited at the University of Oxford (Jolley et al. Wellcome Open Res 2018, 3:124 [version 1; referees: 2 approved]). The development of this site has been funded by the Wellcome Trust.
